What Does APRN, PMHNP-BC Mean?

The credential APRN, PMHNP-BC stands for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified. This certification, awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), reflects rigorous graduate-level training in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across the lifespan. A board-certified PMHNP is qualified to evaluate mental health conditions, prescribe and manage medication, and provide therapy-informed support as part of a comprehensive care team. Choosing a provider with this credential means working with a clinician who has met national standards for psychiatric mental health practice. At HarmonyVille, every Mental Health Provider Spotlight highlights team members who bring this level of expertise, combined with a compassionate, patient-centered approach, to the McKinney and Mansfield communities we serve.
